Chapter 1: The Engagement Dilemma

Is Medium facing another dip in engagement metrics, or is it just me? This pressing question lingers as I observe my stats plummet over the past five days.

My views, reads, and engagement numbers have dropped significantly, and the engagement aspect is particularly concerning. Thankfully, I have Mike Sansone’s support, providing valuable encouragement during this challenging time. Without his uplifting words, I might be spiraling into a writer's slump.

I actively read and interact with intriguing stories and authors, hoping my engagement will create a ripple effect, drawing others back to my work. Yet, the reality is stark: no such return has manifested.

Before I succumb to self-doubt and question the quality of my writing—an all-too-familiar struggle against imposter syndrome—I want to reach out and ask for your honest feedback. Is the issue with my writing, titles, or covers? Are my chosen topics not aligning with readers' interests? If that's the case, I would appreciate any constructive criticism to help improve my approach.

Alternatively, could it be that Medium is witnessing a broader, temporary decline in readership and engagement, perhaps due to ongoing pruning? If so, that would alleviate some of my self-doubt.

Or maybe, the beautiful weather is simply enticing everyone to step outside rather than stay glued to their screens?
