The BOOST program was initiated last November but gained traction in August 2023 when Medium made significant adjustments to prioritize quality over quantity. As of now, it remains in its beta phase.

Medium has established a transparent process for boosting content. Unlike the previous algorithm-driven selections, the community—specifically selected boost nominators, primarily publication owners—can now nominate stories with justification. Medium's curators also play a role in boosting stories.
