Meta's Disturbing Promotion of a Futile Conflict for Virtual Gain

Chapter 1: The NFL's Misguided Tribute
On November 6, 2021, the NFL shared a post on Facebook honoring Pat Tillman, stating, "He would have turned 45 today. Remembering this military hero today." It's ironic, considering the NFL has ignored Tillman's family's plea to stop using his image for nationalistic purposes. Tillman was vehemently opposed to the government exploiting his legacy to promote the Iraq War, believing that a former NFL player could aid recruitment for a senseless conflict. The military even misled the public about the circumstances of his death, claiming he died heroically rather than due to friendly fire, to bolster support for the war. Clearly, 17 years later, Tillman’s wishes for privacy are disregarded.
The absurdity of this situation is only amplified by the flood of conservative reactions on Facebook regarding the NFL's post.
"This is a moment of silence for a true hero. If he were alive, he’d urge everyone to join the fight against China!"
"Real Americans should abandon their jobs to combat those 'yellow commies'! Tillman wouldn't approve of inaction!"
"Thank you, NFL, for honoring a real hero! I stopped watching after Colin Kaepernick’s protest against racism. But military pride is acceptable in sports, so I’ll be tuning back in!"
"I urge NFL players to kneel on November 7th to honor Tillman! Tim Tebow knelt for Jesus, so it’s fine as long as it doesn’t address racial injustice."
It is disheartening to see Tillman being repurposed as a symbol for a conflict he never participated in, especially one rooted in racism and political maneuvering. His family would likely be horrified to see their son’s image used to justify the Republican agenda against China, branded as a fight against "weapons of math destruction."
Moreover, we couldn’t find any credible posts on Facebook discussing the U.S. need for an excuse to dominate China's silicon and germanium resources to alleviate the semiconductor crisis. Was genuine news filtered out of the feed?
We contacted Frances Haugen, a whistleblower from Meta Platforms, who confirmed that the company is intentionally disseminating misinformation and hate speech to boost engagement and profits.
"Controversy is profitable. People crave reasons to feel anger. That’s why Meta has partnered with Republican senators to use Facebook and Instagram to spread misinformation about China."
We pondered why Meta would shy away from the truth.
"Republicans recognized the financial advantages of this conflict. Defense contractors profit from military research, tech firms benefit from access to China’s semiconductor resources, and military product manufacturers gain from increased equipment production. This can all proceed smoothly if Facebook avoids linking to information that accurately explains the motives behind this conflict. Republicans requested that Facebook amplify propaganda that fuels anti-Asian sentiments and supports conspiracy theories like the idea that China is hiding weapons of mass destruction or orchestrated a pandemic."
"Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, quickly approved these algorithmic changes on one condition: if Republicans succeeded in taking over China, Meta would secure 50% of the necessary materials for semiconductor production. Zuckerberg has always envisioned creating the metaverse, a 3D virtual reality realm where people can interact through various devices. His ambition is to manifest a reality akin to The Matrix. To achieve this unnecessary vision, Meta requires an immense quantity of semiconductors to operate this superfluous system."
The conflict with China represents a significant financial opportunity for Meta. Ultimately, Zuckerberg appears willing to sacrifice the lives of innocent individuals for the sake of his virtual universe. Additionally, he seems prepared to jeopardize people’s mental and physical well-being by constructing a captivating digital environment from which no one wants to escape.
Haugen's revelations about Zuckerberg's data manipulation to sway international relations were shocking. We reached out to Zuckerberg for a statement. In response, the android-like CEO dismissed the claims as false before abruptly ending the call.
