Understanding EFT Tapping
EFT Tapping is an effective method for enhancing your emotional well-being — Coach Wendy.
As a Mindset Coach, I take pride in equipping my clients with practical tools they can utilize independently to create meaningful change in their lives.
Emotional Freedom Techniques, commonly referred to as EFT tapping, is one such tool. It is remarkably easy to grasp and implement, requiring no special skills, and can be practiced even in public settings.
What Exactly is EFT?
EFT is a technique designed to optimize your energy system through straightforward tapping on specific points known as meridian points. Below, I will outline these points for your reference.
By tapping on these designated areas, you can enhance energy flow and eliminate any energetic blockages. This simple practice is particularly effective for letting go of negative feelings and nurturing more positive emotions.
The EFT Tapping Points
Different styles of EFT exist, and each EFT Master Practitioner may have their own variations. Here’s the method I prefer:
- Set-Up Phase: Begin by articulating your intention for tapping. You can tap the side of your hand or place both hands over your chest.
- Example phrase: "I’m tapping today to feel happier."
Below is a list of EFT points, along with a reminder phrase you can repeat at each point:
- Top of the head: Feeling happier
- Forehead: Feeling happier now
- Start of the eyebrow: Feeling happy
- Side of the eye: Feeling happy now
- Under the eye: I feel happier now
- Under the nose: I feel happy now
- Under the mouth: I am happier now
- Collarbone: I am happy now
- Side of the hand: With every breath I take, I feel happier
This sequence represents one complete round of EFT. You can repeat it as many times as you wish, only needing to restate your intention at the beginning or when your focus changes.
Using EFT Tapping in Public
When in a public space, you can discreetly tap the side of your hand while silently repeating your intention. For instance, if you're feeling anxious during a meeting, you might tap the side of your hand while mentally affirming, "I am calm and confident."
Applying EFT to Release Negative Emotions
Historically, it was believed that EFT was solely for releasing negative emotions. However, recent insights indicate that it can also be used to foster positive feelings. According to Sylvia Hartmann, the founder of Modern Energy and The Star Matrix, there is no need to focus on releasing negative emotions; instead, concentrate on elevating your emotional state.
While I generally agree with this perspective, I still find it beneficial at times to engage in releasing work first. For example, if you're feeling particularly down, completing several rounds of EFT focused on releasing can be incredibly healing.
To try this approach, your set-up might be: "I’m tapping today to release this feeling." You can specify the feeling or just say "this feeling." Moving forward, you would simply repeat "This feeling" or "Release" at each point, alternating as desired.
- Top of the head: This feeling
- Forehead: Release
- Eyebrow: This feeling
- Side of the eye: Release
- Under the eye: This feeling
- Under the nose: Release
- Under the mouth: This feeling
- Collarbone: Release
- Side of the hand: This feeling
Once you sense that the negative emotion has been released, I encourage you to then tap on the feelings you wish to cultivate. This is a wonderful way to incorporate EFT into your daily life.
